You have to remember the IKEA paints are sold in the children's dept and they children don't care about packaging. Also, the quality isn't going to be artist quality because it's for children. So you really can't put down the IKEA brand.

Just a question? Are you using oil paint specifically designed for the wet-on-wet technique? Also, the brushes you used - are they "badger hair" bristles? If you answered No .... "well, there's your problem!"

Art Hack for Crayons: for even the cheapest ones for kids: You have to prepare the surface of your (acid free) paper, not the crayon itself. Take a cheap water paint kit made for kids. You know, those from the Dollar store. You need the freaky ones that have a salty- sand like feeling on them after drying and if they dry, they get super matte and dull. Just exactly these paint sets are what you need for this Hack. Secure your paper full around on a water absorbing natural wood plate or desk, with painter's masking tape for sensitive surfaces. They don't damage your paper that much after removing them. Put tape around the whole paper, not just the corners. You don't want your paper to go wawy. Take a small glass cup. Decide the base color tone of your artwork (a light pastel colour base) Just like you would do for oil painting. For example, for neutral warm undertone, pick bright yellow or orange. For cold, a blue. For dark, a dark brown or black. Put an oil paint brush (A hard, thick bristle one from the hardware shop) into the chosen colour and mix it in the water long enough to dye the water into that colour. Then, take an empty spray bottle of a cosmetic product (ideally a leave-in hair care liquid). Wash it clean, every part. Put the dyed water in it, shake well, spray on a piece of test paper and let it dry. If the surface feels a bit like sand...or Pastelmat, you are at it. Congrats. Now, spray your artwork paper with it evenly and let it dry. If you want a stronger effect, do it twice or more and let it dry completely between each spraying. You can prepare more pre-mixed spray bottles of colour, just ask your friends around for empty hair care spray bottles. When dry, the paper is ready. Now, draw with the crayon. Depending on the ingredients and the quality, the crayon will transform itself into a strong, bold, beautifully mixable pigment stick. Artist's pigment stick aka something between a soft pastel and an oil pastel. It's colour intensity goes crazy. You have to use a setting spray, a fixative.

6:01 Ah! The long tip thing is an idea that seemed pretentious. The issue of the way you srap pencils is more about what you feel most comfortable using... And for that thinghy it's better to use a mechanical pencil and pull a lot of lead from the mechanism and that's it, sing that system of sharping... or one of those pencils that are completely graphite or compressed charcoal. It is also a lie, the great masters of the Renaissance did not use pencils like that, in fact what we currently know as pencils was not invented until the 17th century. Bars of material have always been used, but specifically with the shape similar to the current one since the Middle Ages. The Renaissanceists used this to sketch crudely and draw on a large scale. For normal drawing they used the Silver point technique (which has already been shown in this channel). This "big point" nonsense is surely something from academia that someone thought of making official, and it just went viral... I had NEVER, not even with art conservatory professors, seen that before.

I'm still new to working with clay but if anyone is newer than me and didn't know....dental tools are the best for making small details in clay. I haven't tried it with air dry clay yet but I bet it works for that too. I've been using it for polymer clay 😊
